About Amina Qayyum Mirza

Ar. Amina Qayyum Mirza is the Co-Founder and partner of the AE design firm M/s. Office of Metropolitan Design-OMD, since 1991 with its main office in Lahore. The firm covers all locations in Pakistan and has overseas projects in the US, Canada and UK. OMD has a multidisciplinary practice and is one of the leading firms in the field of architecture and related design disciplines.
Ar. Mirza has extensive experience as the lead architect for various projects of design, research and assessment. She has across-the-board knowledge in design, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects in a wide range of fields, including architecture, interior, landscape, urban design, planning and management.
Ar. Mirza recently won a national design competition for an ‘Urban Renewal’ and ‘Restoration of a Heritage Building’ under Planning & Development Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She has a vast experience of designing landscape projects of varying scale, from private courtyards to urban and industrial landscapes. Ms. Mirza has been a lead architect for Interloop Limited’s projects and is currently designing new office blocks and a ‘Eco Park and Botanical Garden’ which is in the completion phase. In 2009 she developed a landscape and urban design proposal for Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi, which spanned over an area of 42 Acres ie: 1,512,000 sft of land and comprised of approx. 300,000 sft constructed built up area.
A recent notable project was the A/E Design and Supervision of the Product & Marketing Office Building at the Interloop Industries, Faisalabad. It is a 30,000 Sft. state of the art contemporary office building for a regional giant in knitwear apparel manufacturing and export. The project won the prestigious IAP award in its category.
The A/E/ID Design of McDonald’s Restaurant, Fortress Stadium and LDA Plaza, Lahore. The restaurant at the Fortress Stadium, Lahore was awarded the best interior design for McDonald’s restaurant in the Middle East region and was selected out of 700 branches. It featured one of its kind, hand painted ceiling of a 60 Ft. diameter double height central circular saucer domed hall. She has authored and presented papers at international forums on Urban Design, Gender and Education. Her papers have been published in prestigious international journals and national journals.
In addition to being Team Leader at OMD - Office of Metropolitan Design AE Firm, she is a partner in ‘Project Management’ firm OMD Consult and A2 Studio ‘Design and Support Facilities’ firm based in Vancouver, Canada. She also developed an Interior Accessories and Artwork product line by the name of Craftline.
