Overview

For the Architects this project meant exploring freedom and liberation through material and color. Hence, designing the architecture, interior and landscape became a treat for the project team. The principals questioned common understanding of an office space in Pakistan and pushed it to new limits which demanded special attention to its context which is a crucial part of the firms design philosophy especially considering the very tight footprint of the building.
The program of the space was designed such to encourage interaction amongst the employees at all levels and to open the self created transition spaces to the natural outdoors with a park towards the shorter side and a school playfield on the longer one.
This concept was to design multiple open yet casual spaces to work, sit and chat. A cafeteria where ideas could be floated over a cup of coffee, various informal & formal meeting spaces for clients and the team. At the top you find a roof garden that is a primary space for the entire office to get together and brainstorm.
The office on four levels is visually connected through an open, semi-open wood and metal staircase with a colorful installation at the topmost level. The use of glass even though primarily helped achieve this fluidity, yet it was limited to areas where it was most needed.
Play with color & brick is predominant and introduced in areas where it is most effective. Furniture, art work, floor and wall finishes were tools for color intervention. The firm believes color is the best tool to take serious and boring away from environments like that of an office; Enhancing the workability and productivity of the employees.
