Residence 30

Overview

Residence 30, is a single unit family residence in F-6/2 Islamabad. The long linear site is divided in a way that a second house can be built some years down therefore the building has been opened into self created terrace gardens, courtyards or smaller landscaped courts towards the corner side.
The horizontal structure is well lit, private and comprises of almost similar number of rooms on level 1 & 2 while a study, multipurpose room, a swimming pool, open kitchen and box room is kept in the basement opening towards self created multiple courts.
The effort was to primarily dissect the longish three storied box into private, semi - private and casual zones with easy accessibility through water courtyards.
This Asian urban home offers a series of different experiences, borrows patterns, architectural components, appreciates an ideal living environment while the design expresses these local characteristics through an abstracted way to create symbolised nature.
The aim of our design was to emphasise and influence social interaction, simplistic and indigenous techniques but following an extremely basic module.
