W+M house is an exciting in-construction project next up at Studio Subtractive. Composed of cube-shaped forms this project is an homage to brutal architecture, appropriate for the harsh context we are building in. The heavily serrated concrete façade quintessential to the brutalist style is the exterior, which safeguards in contrast the organic nature infilled interior. A serene oasis is the center for the habitable spaces to look onto . As terraced courtyards and open spaces oriented towards the south west, are in line with the prevalent wind breeze for maximum passive ventilation and natural light. To protect the open three storied void from strong winds picking up dust we have designed a free standing screen using custom designed modular cement bricks set in an RCC frame. The wall also acts as a visual barrier from the adjacent property while allowing breeze to infiltrate through.
