SK Loft By Noor Khan Design Studio

Overview

The Client resides in a house which was built about 35 years ago. Within the existing structure they wanted to create a Loft sort of a space which would serve the purpose of a casual hang-out place for the client and his friends, as well as serve as a bedroom. The major challenge in this project other than the structural engineering was to ensure the space is dynamic enough to cater to a gathering, as well as transform itself into a living space when the client wishes for that to happen.
The double height space builds a connection between the lower level and the upper level. Making it a very interesting space to be in. The stair case is strategically placed next to the window so anyone going up/down the stairs has a great view of the lawns which are visible through the window.
The actual space we were dealing with here was not very big, especially considering the requirements of the client and the dual nature of the inhabitance. Hence the decision to make white as the base color for everything to give it an open feeling and more importantly make natural light bounce off of each surface to make the space look more airy and open. The same concept was followed when choosing the interior finishes. The complexity of this project was resolved through simplicity, which we at Noor Khan Design Studio think is a success in this project!
