Shama & Brig(R) Waheed Khan House

12C is a recent courtyard residence by the firm, the idea in this single unit family residence is to provide a buffer from the neighboring houses that will stand at 10’0” on both sides and also to open the entire house into a central linear courtyard which is the focal point and connects the house in cross section on all levels. It also maximizes daylight keeping the privacy intact. The main living room is then placed in front to enjoy the lawn right at the entrance and is the most used space of the house hence the position was crucial to the layout.
This residence is derived from its regional context, environment and is an outcome of subconscious recollection of experiences, aesthetics & a meaningful outcome for day to day social functions. It is sheer love and passion for architecture and design. The house from its volumes till its flooring, from its external frontage till its interior finishing of marble , wood and granite is an absolute realization of well affirmed thoughts of space, encompassing so many colors ,emotions and auras. This arrangement will allow the structure to gracefully age and somewhere far in time; the landscape and the built structure will overlap each other. They will unite in nature and function.
This is the quality the office wants to achieve on all projects, it brews timeless spaces and has one foot in future while the other rooted in its past.
