About Syed Ghayyoor Obaid

After graduating from The National College of Arts in 1981, Ghayyoor Obaid explored his passion for architecture in Russia and Germany, before moving back to Pakistan in 1986, where he found his first client. The same year he started his architecture firm under the name Profile, which has been in practice since 32 wholesome years and has recently been renamed Ghayyoor Obaid Architects.

A true optimist, Ghayyoor Obaid believes in an ever-evolving design process, which celebrates tradition, while remaining valid to its time and context. His projects, whether commercial or residential, large or small, aim to address the social, cultural and environmental currents prevalent in each project’s individual context. Always one to appreciate the simple things, Obaid believes that simplicity and purpose should drive each design decision. With over 500 successfully completed projects, he believes he has only scratched the surface and looks forward to using his experience to take things to the next level.
