The architects were involved from the inception of the project including the site selection process. This became essential to the derivation of the core concept and eventual realization of the project. The contours and the terrain of the site naturally dictated the location of the house. Upon approaching one is greeted by a brick clad solid block and a hint of the view that lies beyond. More is revealed once one enters the house and feels engulfed by the picturesque landscape.
The idea was to develop a spatial sequence of entry which climaxed into the revelation of the distant view of the Athal farms. Therefore, CITE skillfully choreographed the process of arrival to dramatize the approach from the entry to that spectacular view. This was the central concept around which the whole house was built. The house is divided into three zones; the central zone being the communal space, supported by private chambers on one side and auxiliary spaces on the other. The communal space caters to a variety of the occupants of the house from reading to lounging to enjoying a hot cup of tea around the cozy fireplace with the double heighted view as a backdrop. The central space seeps out to the exterior into the gardens.
The dialogue between the exterior and interior played a vital role in developing the concept further. This was also achieved by pulling the façade brick into the living room. The private chambers are oriented towards the south to maximize the south sun and vistas. Due to this most rooms do not require any artificial lighting during daytime fulfilling one of the essential needs of the clients. Furthermore, each room is designed according the unique personalities of its inhabitants while making sure all of them benefited from the distinctly framed views
The auxiliary spaces support the services and maintenance of the house while remaining tucked away in one particular zone. The kitchen on the other hand flows into the lounge enriching and reinforcing the program of the central zone, the lounge
